Signature Models Saga: Warwick Bootsy Collins Infinity Bass

Bootsy Collins is one of the most influential Funk bass player. Everyone must have heard at least one Bootsy’s legendary bass line i.e. Sex Machine recorded with James Brown. During the 70s, Bootsy Collins actively participate to achieve the hallucinogen psychedelic Funk recipe cooked by George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic crew. Since then Bootsy has made his way as band leader in Rubber Band or collaborating with many artists (as in Praxis or Science Faxtion with his fellow avant-garde guitarist Buckethead). Bootsy Collins has developped a very rhythmic, and groovy play using many weird funky effects to suit his totally exuberant and original style.

Bootsy’s basses are as exuberant as him… Just remember his star shaped signature bass. Now it’s the turn of Warwick to announce a Warwick Bootsy Collins Infinity signature bass designed in cooperation with Bootsy himself. It should be presented at the next winter NAMM but here the informations that leaked.

Most noticeable characteristics:

  • Based on the Warwick Infinity 4-string bass
  • Semi-resonant construction
  • Maple neck
  • Ovangkol body
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • Active MEC Jazz and Twin Jazz-pickups
  • EC 3-band EQ

Two awesome variants will be available: Black Star and Orange Star finishes. If I had to make a choice, I’d get for the flashiest one. It’s definetly a bass I would try. Nothing has leaked about its price yet.

  1. I would love to win this bass. It combines 2 of my favorite things: that signature Warwick growl and da funk. The Infinity is just like Bootsy Collins…as good as it gets. The names Warwick baby.
