It’s All About Guitar Round-up #2

Gear news that I wanted to blog but didn’t have the time to do… Articles from the blogosphere that I found interesting… I decided to not focus on gear news only in this weekly round-up.

Some More Vox in my Ears

Last week there were a lot of new from Vox, and I missed one very interesting about the hand-wired series reissue amplifiers consisting in AC15, and AC30 Vox amps. You can read this news in Premier Guitar.

I also stumbled upon the review of Vox guitars by Gearwire. Back in Frankfurt Musikmesse I was a bit disappointed by the fact that we couldn’t test the Vox guitars.  So here is a review of the Vox series 55. Too bad, there is no sound clips to listen to this guitar, and the promise that you’ll have the tones of a single coil pickup, a humbucker, and a P-90 all in the same pickup, the CoAxe Pickup System.

Rock Lock… Anti-theft Device for Guitarists

The number of stolen guitars alerts is huge, and most of the stories happen at a gig while the musicians are having a break or at the end of the gig. So the idea of an anti-theft device is far from being stupid! Here is the Rock Lock presented on blog… I told you it’s not stupid, once the guitar is attached to the amp, the thief will have to take the guitar, and the amp!!

John Mayer: Rig Rundown & a New Fender Signature

John Mayer has a signature model at Fender… This like what… His 49th signature guitar? Nevermind! But here is an interesting rig rundown video with his guitar tech showing Mayer’s gear on tour! I don’t if you are drooling but I do!

Top 5 Indie Guitar Builders According to The Fifth Fret

Here is a nice, and fresh top 5 with 5 brands I didn’t heard of before. I particularly dig Kauer Guitars, and their vision of the Jazzmaster shape with a strong touch à-la Les Paul.

7 Amazing Guitar Hacks / Mods

Earlier this week I made a blog post about the shovel guitar hack… I didn’t have the time to dig up the archives of Hack a Day to look for some similar stuff but Danny from The Daily Guitar made it. Here are 7 Amazing Guitar Hacks / Mods. There is some serious shit there like the Misa Digital I posted about a couple of months ago or the following one.

Cheap Guitar Rig Versus Expensive Guitar Rig

At Gear-Vault they like to debate, and I find it weird that there are not more comments on their posts like this one: Cheap Guitar Rig Vs Expensive Guitar Rig. I actually may write a response post as I did in the past with The Blues Has Evolved… But The Fans Didn’t as a response to Why Won’t The Blues Evolve?

30 Days to Improve your Guitar Technique with Guitar International

Here is an interesting series of articles on Guitar International which a program of exercises: 30 Days to Building Better Guitar Technique. Every Day since September, 1st GI team are releasing an article with exercises starting with the easiest, and then make in them more difficult. I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of exercises but one day or another every guitarist has to go that path… Even just a little… So why not when you are a beginner?

Guitar Competitions on G.A.S. a GoGo

Self promotion… 3 months I launched G.A.S. a GoGo a blog listing all the gear giveaways around the web that are not restricted to U.S. Residents. It is in French but I’m wondering if it should also be held in English so that everyone could enjoy it without the help of Google Translator. What do you think of this?

One comment
