Demo of the Lap King Rodeo Lapsteel

Submitted by Sem on Wednesday September 30th, 2009 – 09:30 AM5 Comments

A little demo of a custom Lap King Rodeo lap steel guitar, built by Jason DuMont.  The signal chain is: Lap King Rodeo guitar / Cmatmods Signa Drive overdrive pedal / T-Rex Tremster tremolo pedal / Fender Blues Junior amp.

The recording is made with an SM-57 mic picking up the amp signal, and an SE2200A condenser mic for the talking (which is muted in the mix while I play the lap steel).

The lap steel is tuned to Ab minor (G minor tuning up half a step).

Enjoy!

WOW! Man I’m so happy to hear about another lover of Jason’s work !!! I know him for htree years now, and bought him three guitars (yes … guitars! he’s a gifted lapsteel maker, but he’s also making a guitar from time to time, Firebird-shaped most of the time, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have some of those master pieces of art!
I know that one day I’ll buy him a lapsteel – listen to that sound ! You’re a lucky slider Fred :-)

@ Doc Loco: Not only Fred is a lucky slider, but he also is a very talented slider. Upcoming very soon: a review of his fantastic album Hedgehogs & Elephants. ;-)
