To Find the Right Microphone…

I recently started looking for a good microphone, and the microphone world is as dense as the guitar world. For environmental reasons I need a microphone adapted to close miking. My quest is still open, and to help me narrow down the candidates list I’ve been using Recording Hacks. This is a useful resource that I recently found while I was monitoring websites to provide gear giveaways related content for G.A.S. a GoGo.

On Recording Hacks you will find:

  • A microphone database containing 976 microphones from 103 manufacturers so far. You can search the database by microphone names and/or characterstics like the type or the pattern, etc… Each article contains a lot of information, and data about the frequency response for example.
  • A blog with microphone reviews by several authors (about a hundred reviews to date)

It is a very useful resource to narrow down your search if you are looking for a microphone… As I mentionned it before, I (re)stumbled upon Recording Hacks because of G.A.S. a GoGo. The reason is that they are holding a giveaway that is still running until February, 15:  Cascade & Cloud Microphones giveaway (Cascade ribbon microphone & Cloud preamp) or check this direct link to recording hacks contest page.

If you know about other microphone resources as good as Recording Hacks… Please tell me in the comments below!

  1. Merci… Je vais regarder ça même si j’ai déjà plus ou moins ciblé le micro que je veux.
