Google Pays Tribute to Django Reinhardt

Today is Saturday, January 23rd, and it is the centenary of Django Reinhardt… Google is paying tribute on its home page with a Google Doodle picturing the creator of the Gypsy Jazz genre, one of the greatest and one of the most influential guitarist of the 20th century.

Django ReinhardtAs for me, I’m going to pay tribute by digging out all my Gypsy Jazz records, and have listening session with Django Reinhardt and his spiritual sons Bireli Lagrene, Romane, Tchavolo Schmitt and Stochello Rosenberg…

Here is a wonderful rendition of Minor Swing which is one of my favorite themes in Gypsy Jazz.

  1. Hey I’m glad that the suggestion worked and you liked it… Gypsy Jazz is a great music, and Django Reinhardt was just a brilliant guitar player. 🙂

  2. Nice to see Google paid tribute to the great Django! I couldn’t see it in my Google page, but I was checking on Saturday hoping they would do it.
