In case you’re wondering if I’m going crazy again with Godin guitars, I’ll tell you that I’ve never stopped being crazy about their guitars. Me posting this morning about the Godin Redline Nemesis, and now posting about the brand new Godin 5th Avenue Uptown GT with Bigsby is a pure coincidence.
The 5th Avenue series was made of jazzy kind of guitars but the new Uptown GT goes in a more Rockabilly direction. It reminds me of Gretsch guitars a little so it is probably able to play beyond the Rockabilly style. The 5th Avenue Uptown still remains in the archtop spirit of the 5th Avenue series but it has a cutaway , and the Bigsby tremolo that perfectly fits that kind of guitars. As usual with Godin, the humbuckers are made by Godin, and I remember that they were quite good (at least I regret the humbuckers of my former Godin LG).
The guitar will be presented at the next Summer NAMM in Nashville (July 21-23rd), and now I regret I won’t be there to check this out! I can’t wait to try it… The 5th Avenue Uptown doesn’t have its own page on Godin Guitars website.
I like it when brands try to innovate, and take risks to produce something out of their comfort zone but it is also very cool when they bring some variations around what they do best.
