Gary Shider : Legendary Funk Guitarist Died

This bummed me out… P-Funk’s musical director, guitarist, and vocalist Gary Shider died two days ago at age 56. He was a member of George Clinton’s bands Funkadelic, Parliament, and ultimately P-Funk since 1972. He was one of my favorite musicians!

Gary was a wonderful singer, and maybe one of the most recognizable member of the P-Funk All Stars as he used to appear in a diaper on stage. But man his voice, and guitar skills were awesome too!! Some of his best features include songs like Cosmic Slop, and One Nation Under a Groove.

I was planning to catch the P-Funk again on stage next summer in France… I probably will anyway but Gary Shider is going to be missed!! For sure he is going to be missed!!
